This 150-page manual is designed to be a simple guide for parents and teachers to teach children of any age to read, as well as teach the basics of cursive writing.

Section 1 of Reading and Writing Fun and Easy uses the phonetic approach to learning to read, as children memorize the SOUND and SHAPE of each letter of the alphabet.  Step by step they learn:

(1) The SOUNDS that each of the 16 consonants make, which are always constant —  as well as recognize the basic letter shapes;

(2) The sounds and shapes of 4 letters which have 2 sounds (c, g, s, x);

(3) The basic sounds and shapes of the 5 vowels, a, e, i, o, u.  The four sounds of the letter Y are also taught.

(4)  About 25 sight-words to memorize;

(5) The principles of letter blends (bl, bw; cr, cl; dr, dw, etc.).

Section 2 is a step-by-step approach to learning how to write in cursive.  This is almost a lost art, but is actually necessary for whole-brain learning.

It has recently been discovered that in the “old days” of America, printing was not taught in school, but students were expected to READ print, and WRITE cursive. Authors of “Reading and Writing, Fun & Easy” feel that teaching print is usually an unnecessary step. So, all the principles of learning to write legibly in cursive are presented.

As soon as a child can hold a pencil, he or she can learn to write cursive.

Lessons include basic strokes for the beginner with progression to writing simple words. Practice pages included.
