During his notable, life-long career, Dr. W. Cleon Skousen became a popular author and speaker. He had a refreshing approach to clearly express seemingly complicated subjects. His witty and organized method of explaining and documenting history has delighted thousands of readers, students and listeners for many years. While we mourn the loss of such a great man, we rejoice in all he has left behind – a legacy of faith; a wealth of knowledge; a vision of hope.
His combined works have generated volumes of valuable reading and timely research. He wrote and published national, best selling books such as “The 5000 Year Leap” and “The Naked Communist.” “Prophecy and Modern Times”, his 3-volume Old Testament series, and “The Cleansing of America,” are just a few of the dozens of titles that have sold hundreds-of-thousands of copies during the last several decades.
His topics of interest and research ranged from raising boys to the threats of Communism. He understood the Founding Fathers, their intent, background and hope for America. He developed a deep appreciation of the scriptures as he taught thousands of college students who packed his religion classes at BYU. His lectures and writings on the meaning of the Lord’s sacred Atonement are most notable.
